NS

Spent two weeks doing National Service a few weeks ago. Unlike in previous years, this time I actually get to make use of my undergraduate training! It was really exciting hearing about life in the mental health services from my team members. Almost makes me wish I were in that line myself! Very fun bunch of folks. Hope to see them again next year!

a switch to Plogger

a switch to Plogger

Since I set up this website earlier this year, I hadn’t been satisfied with the software I was using for the photo gallery. Sure, Coppermine Gallery is nice and all, and in fact I’m using it over at my school’s website. But somehow, it was overkill for this blog. What I wanted was a simple, clean-looking gallery that could integrate easily into WordPress. It also has to have an admin interface so that I don’t have to FTP my photos…

video on the iPod

video on the iPod

Marking madness

Marking madness

Completely overwhelmed by marking of examination scripts these few days, but that didn’t stop me from finding out that Palm has released the Palm Z22 and Palm T/X. Or that Yahoo and Microsoft have agreed to work on instant messaging inter-operability. Or that Apple has added some exciting features to the iMac G5, sent the eMac the way of the dodo and introduced an iPod with video playback capabilities (among other things). And I didn’t even have to surf the…

Freeware galore!

Freeware galore!

Got very excited when I read that StarOffice 8 has not only been released this week, but it is also available as a free download for teachers and students! Aside from improved compatability with Microsoft Office, a more user-friendly look (read: similar to Microsoft Office applications to tempt even more users to switch) and an actually easy-to-use database application, there are also a host of other new features. Not a student or teacher? Well, there’s always OpenOffice which is nearing…
