a switch to Plogger

a switch to Plogger

Since I set up this website earlier this year, I hadn’t been satisfied with the software I was using for the photo gallery. Sure, Coppermine Gallery is nice and all, and in fact I’m using it over at my school’s website. But somehow, it was overkill for this blog. What I wanted was a simple, clean-looking gallery that could integrate easily into WordPress. It also has to have an admin interface so that I don’t have to FTP my photos every time. I’ve tried a couple of gallery software over the past few months, but came across none that met these criteria.

FAlbum
seemed to be it. Sure you need a Flickr account for it to work, but Flickr accounts are free (with some limitations). For a few moments after installation, I thought my search was over – FAlbum it was! But then I encountered a problem, which nobody seems to have a solution for.

I was just about to give up the search for the time being when a chance visit to opensourcecms.com lead me to Plogger. Its simple and elegant interface really hooked me. And within half an hour, thanks to this excellent guide, I finally have a photo gallery integrated into my blog!

Next: time to upload even more photos!
