drumming up the excitement

drumming up the excitement

Wow, it has been more than a month since my last post. In that time, I’ve been struggling with the usual school work, new responsibilities at school and my Masters course readings and assignments. I’m so thankful for the 1-week March school holiday break this week – I can finally….. catch up on marking, set exam papers, finish up more readings and assignments, and actually attend non-Masters courses. Hmm, I think I’m looking forward to the June break already.. Now,…

Getting enough sleep

Getting enough sleep

Some of my students recently talked to me about not being able to get enough sleep. It’s a big problem because they can’t sleep till very late at night, and then keep falling asleep in class..even during tests! So I looked around and found this nice list to help insomniacs. Me? I just don’t have enough time for sleep. Given the time, falling asleep is eaaaasy!

pbwiki – a wiki for everyone

pbwiki – a wiki for everyone

I’ve been dabbling with wikis for a while and so far I’ve found them to be useful for collaborative writing tasks. Easy web creation

Easy web creation

When my school started the rather ill-fated webpage-for-every-teacher drive a few years ago, I found myself with some webspace..but no MySQL support. Which meant that there was no way I’d be able to put up a site like this blog, much less a course management system like Moodle. Teachers were advised to export HTML pages from Microsoft Word, but I found it simply too clunky. And I didn’t really want to go through the hassle of editing HTML code every…

Goodbye ya WIMP!

Goodbye ya WIMP!

Whew, almost half-way into January and I’m only doing my first entry! I must say, I never thought this new school year would be so much more fast-paced with new classes, new roles & responsibilities and…night-classes (yep, I’m working on getting a Masters..at last!). Now, back to the subject matter – I can’t say I’m sad that I can finally bid farewell to the WIMP i.e. Windows Media Player on the Mac. It just feels so clunky..almost “unbecoming” of a…

Truly Delicious

Truly Delicious

Thanks to this hilarious video review, I was inspired to finally catalogue my ever-growing DVD collection. Sure, it’s still small collection (I’m hardly rich after all..sadly), but it still is growing. Anyway, the software is called Delicious Library and it’s made by a company called…Delicious Monster! Yep, doesn’t sound like a stuffy company at all. And you can see why as soon as you launch the program. Truly Delicious indeed! Not into the wooden bookshelf look? No problem, there’re many…
