Firefox Extensions rock!

Firefox Extensions rock!

And all you need to do is look at this article on O’Grady’s PowerPage to see why. I have been using Safari rather faithfully since I got OS X 10.3 (“Panther”) on my Mac, but the additional functionality and speed boost that Firefox gets with these tweaks really tempt me (hey, at least it’s not Internet Explorer 👿 )

OS X server goodies

OS X server goodies

I was getting really tired of the looong upload times (I am only on cable modem 🙁 ) whenever I wanted to try something new on my Globat-hosted server, so I figured that since most linux distributions come with server application packages, I might as well install one in my sadly infrequently-used PC right? Only problem was, as soon as I was about to go about installing one, I realised just how much of a hassle it can be (and…

new iBook!

new iBook!

No need for a picture, because it looks exactly the same as the old one (with the exception of the slot-loading optical drive, as opposed to a tray-loading one). So how does it perform? Noticeably faster than the old one, that’s for sure. Allow me to post the specifications of my old iBook and the new one: iBook G3 700MHz384MB PC100 SDRAMATI Radeon 7500 16MB AGP20GB hard driveCD-ROM tray-loading drive iBook G4 1.2GHz768MB DDR266 SDRAMATI Radeon 9200 32MB AGP60GB hard…

Farewell iBook

Farewell iBook

A few days ago, a friend contacted me regarding a “lobang” for getting one of Apple’s new iBooks at a lower-than-educational pricing. Now, ever since Apple bumped up the specs of their 12″ model (to 1.2GHz), included wireless 802.11g capabilities as standard AND slashed the price by US$100, I’ve been very tempted to upgrade from my now-puny (but still productive and problem-free) 2-year old, G3 700MHz, CD-ROM-only model. And most especially because I’ve been planning to show excerpts of DVDs…

iDVD goodness

iDVD goodness

Despite having a Pioneer DVD-burner for some time, I simply hadn’t the opportunity to cut a DVD movie – that is, until my dad asked me to cut a DVD of my 1-year old nephew’s birthday party. 🙂 So I attached the miniDV cam to my PowerMac, imported the footage into iMovie, did a few simple edits, exported it into iDVD and…voila! Now I have an actual DVD, with menus, photo slideshows all in a few minutes (that is, minus…

iPod envy?

iPod envy?

It never suprises me what lengths some are willing to go to just so that they can make more money. I’m talking about Creative of course, which made such a big hoo-hah about their new Creative Zen Touch in today’s Straits Times. Oh, Apple was slated to, and has announced, their 4th generation iPod today too. Coincidence? You decide. Now, I’ve always felt that competition is good for the industry, whatever industry. The thing that irks me though is the…
