new iBook!

new iBook!

No need for a picture, because it looks exactly the same as the old one (with the exception of the slot-loading optical drive, as opposed to a tray-loading one). So how does it perform? Noticeably faster than the old one, that’s for sure. Allow me to post the specifications of my old iBook and the new one:

iBook G3 700MHz
384MB PC100 SDRAM
ATI Radeon 7500 16MB AGP
20GB hard drive
CD-ROM tray-loading drive

iBook G4 1.2GHz
768MB DDR266 SDRAM
ATI Radeon 9200 32MB AGP
60GB hard drive
DVD-CDRW slot-loading drive

Is it really any suprise my new iBook is noticeably snappier than the old one (not that the old one’s performance was unacceptable, mind you, when runnning apps like MS Office vX). 🙂 The best part is that I paid almost the same amount of money for it as I did for the older iBook G3…2 years ago. Yes, it’s almost because I did spend a little extra upgrading the hard drive from the stock 30GB (too small!) and 256MB RAM (too little!). Apps like MS Office 2004 are now speedier than ever…oh, and I can actually work with iMovie4 at decent speeds now. 😀

Edit: Argh I can’t resist showing off my new baby..urm productivity tool, so I’ve attached a picture to this post. Also updated my Tech page to reflect my latets acquisition
