OS X server goodies

I was getting really tired of the looong upload times (I am only on cable modem 🙁 ) whenever I wanted to try something new on my Globat-hosted server, so I figured that since most linux distributions come with server application packages, I might as well install one in my sadly infrequently-used PC right? Only problem was, as soon as I was about to go about installing one, I realised just how much of a hassle it can be (and now that the school term has started, it isn’t as if I have a lot of free time on my hands…). And then it suddenly struck me 💡

OS X has the Apache web server software built in! DUH!

So I grabbed and installed a copy of the PHP Apache Module and MySQL Database Server from this most excellent of OS X software repositories, created a database using CocoaMySQL, and now I’m happily running a local install of Mambo CMS. Woohoo!
