Crossing Over
Intel Mac users have been able to dual-boot to Windows using Boot Camp, or even run Windows inside OS X using Parallels Desktop.
Today, Codeweavers, known for their family of Crossover software enabling Linux users to run Windows applications inside Linux, has released a long-awaited beta for the Mac!
So far I’ve tried installing IE6 in Crossover Beta 1, and it installs and runs without a hitch. Unlike Boot Camp, it doesn’t involve the hassle of rebooting, and unlike Parallels, you don’t have to install a copy of Windows to run Windows apps. At this point though, it’s not as reliable as the other two – not surprising considering it’s an early beta.
Personally, I’m very much looking forward to the progress of this product! I really need to be able to run MS Access on my Mac for some school databases!
