Times..they are a changing
Came across an archived version of Apple’s website from April 1998. My, it wasn’t that long ago that Apple released a campaign slamming the Pentium II and extolling the virtues of the PowerPC processor. Who would have though that 7 years later, Apple would actually slam PowerPC and announce that they are going Intel instead? Imagine that, all Macintoshes will be x86, just like current PCs, by 2007! Even Dell CEO is looking forward to the day it may offer OS X with its PCs!
This piece of news actually has me a little worried – it seems that 40 million credit card accounts have been exposed due to a security breach. Now, like most other internet-using and more importantly MODERN shoppers out there, I have, of course, made a couple of purchases online. So what this means is that I, along with many other people, might soon find my credit card bills reflecting purchases of items I never bought! Distressing isn’t it (despite assurances that every measure is being taken to preven this)? But has it shaken my faith in the system of online purchases? Well, I’m sure security could be tighter still, but let’s face it – even if you don’t shop online, you could still be robbed physically on the way to the mall etc. I’m confident issues like this will be resolved…SOON.
In the meantime, I’ll be scrutinising by credit card bills very very closely…
