Moodle on a flash drive!

Last week, I started using a Course Management Software called Moodle for one of my classes. It’s really good, and I can see a lot of potential uses for it. One thing I don’t really enjoy, though, is the somewhat non-instaneous..urm ok slow response to my clicks, especially on a slow internet day (which does happen regularly in school).

Moodle for Windows installers seem to be the answer to my annoyances. It’d appear that I can very quickly set up an 8MB installation of Moodle on a USB flash drive, complete with all requisite services (e.g. PHP and MySQL)! This means that I can develop content off-line on my USB flash drive and then upload it to my Moodle website once I’m ready! What a time saver!

p.s. Mac users can also easily run and install Moodle off their Macs thanks to built-in Apache in OS X. See my previous post on OS X server goodies for more details on PHP and MySQL installation.
